Chinese New Year Festival
CNYF (now LNYF) is an annual cultural show run and performed by student at Washington University in St. Louis, my alma mater. Traditionally celebrated around February, the show is performed two nights and brings together the campus and St. Louis community.
2005 was the year of the rooster and the jokes could be made aplenty! Because there is no official logo (due to the constant changing of student board members), the aim was to promote CNYF’s presence on campus through theme and color. As co-coordinator of the 2005 show, I designed the apparel, packaging, posters and much of the stage set.
Sweatshirts, long-sleeved t-shirts, soundtracks and DVDs were sold to cast and audience members as a fundraiser. Due to a tight budget, I edited the show video, helped produce a documentary and created the show’s 2-disc DVD.
As one of my all-time favorite projects and experiences, CNYF continues to live on at WUSTL as Lunar New Year Festival after our successful campaign for a name change to incorporate all cultures in the celebration.
